This blanket was made by Paula Furguson in San Bernadino, CA in 1977. Originally used as a bedspread; it was brought to the Northwest in 1987. From 1987-2014 it was used for many family outings as a ground cloth and was known as “picnic blankie.” The blanket traveled widely and was a common backdrop to many family photos that showed the kids at every stage of their childhood. As a family it is amusing to see how much we all have changed—but the “picnic blankie” remained the same. All the photos are similar in that we only took it out on beautiful sunny days so we have a very positive feeling toward this blanket. It represented many family outings and was the base camp of many wonderful memories.
